Paris in Christmas Time
Paris is always lovely, thinks Mona Farrugia, but just before Christmas she falls in love with it every time, all over again.
If there were one city I would feel very comfortable emigrating to, it would be Paris. I try to go at least once a year: whether with The Writer or by myself, I feel completely at home there.
I'm a creature of habit so for years I have been staying at the same hotel near the Pont Neuf. We changed last year and found that in Paris, hotel rooms, no matter how chic, come in small, smaller and smallest.
Even in November and December the temperature can come down even to 0C so wrap up warm. The vintage shops are fantastic for sourcing full-length furs and make sure you're wearing knee-length shearling-lined boots, preferably with rubber soles just in case it gets icy.
The restaurants remain fantastic, but only if you know where to go. In the 'restaurant search' on planetmona, just type 'paris' for city and you will find a good assortment of restaurant reviews covering anything from l"Astrance (at €300 for lunch for two and a two month waiting list) to Allard, steeped in traditionality and quality
