Due to our constant increase in custom, we are looking into expanding our team so as to fulfill the following vacant positions:
Who we are:
Taverna Sugu is a cosy 25-cover restaurant in the heart of Birgu, Malta’s maritime capital. At Sugu, we reproduce dishes cooked the way Maltese folk ate in times gone by. Most ingredients are purchased directly from artisans, farmers and fishermen. Our guests are pampered in an informal frill-free environment.
What we're looking for:
Commis Chef – Part-time
The ideal candidate must be flexible, self-disciplined and with a genuine passion for fresh and seasonal ingredients. The position requires a person who can handle high-pressure environments in a speedy and organised fashion.
Previous kitchen experience is required, although applicants who have not attended catering school are equally welcome to submit their applications.
Kitchen Assistant – Part-time
The person we are looking for to fulfill this position must have a general idea of cuisine, but needs not be experienced or qualified. The kitchen assistant will be responsible for all cleaning duties as well as basic kitchen duties in preparation or during service.
Front of house – Part-time
Working in the front of house at Sugu requires good hosting skills, efficiency and flexibility. Previous experience in the industry, as well as a passion for food and wine are essential. Training will be provided. The ideal candidate will be well-travelled, a good team player and with excellent people-skills.
