Vacancies at Angelica, Valletta: Join our fantastic team!

Born some few months ago, Angelica is now a toddler.

We had thought that having one staff member on board with Mona working all the hours God gave her would be enough.

Then we thought two staff members would be better yet Mona was still working all the hours God gave her and a few he hadn't.

Then we realised we'd need to go up to three because freshly prepared food needs love, dedication and time (those are our people), but Mona is...well, you get the gist.

If you are interested in working with us take a look at the following:

Look through the list and see how many boxes you can tick with a 'yes'. If you leave one out, then maybe Angelica is not really up your street and we'd love to see you as a customer. If you tick them all off then This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

1. Do you love genuine and inventive food?

2. Do you have around 15 hours a week to spare?

3. Can you put some rubber gloves on and get going with the dishes and wine glasses (we do a lot of washing up because we actually use real crockery and cutlery)

4. Is your level of education high? Can you speak excellent Maltese and English and can communicate in a friendly and open manner?

6. Are you a responsible and organised person who would leave the fridge stocked and Angelica clean before your shift ends so that the rest of the team mates find it ready to go?

7. Do you have a  strong customer service ethic? In other words do you know how to treat people the way you'd love to be treated?

8. Are you a happy, upbeat person ?

The shifts available are as follows:

1. Early morning - from 8.30am - cleaning, preparation and loads of coffee making (we will train you)

2. Day - from 11am to 4.15pm

3. Evenings - from 3.15pm to 8.15pm (Monday to Wednesday)

4. Nights - from 7.30pm to the late night/early hours of the morning: bar-work, wines, food and organisation (Thursday to Sunday)

If you've said yes to all of these then we would love to hear from you. Get writing.

Please do not write in if you tick yes to any of the following:

  1. You're thinking of opening your own cafe/tea-room and want to see how it works
  2. You are going through a life crisis and are 'experimenting': we train our staff extensively but we're not a lab
  3. You don't like people in general - we smile 98% of the time even if we don't feel like it
  4. You think that 'shift ends at 8pm' means that you pack your bag and leave at 7.59 regardless of the fact that the cafe is full of people and your colleagues need your help
  5. You arrive late everywhere
  6. You're just a little bit messy and your mother picks up after you all the time
  7. You think wearing pink/lilac/purple is an aberration and should be banned forthwith: our 'uniforms' are cute dresses and shirts from Sisley, Benetton and Nara Camicie, our striped aprons by Charles and Ron, our shoes ballerinas
  8. You like to ask your friends/boyfriends/girlfriends to 'come visit' you at work
  9. You cannot detach yourself from your mobile phone and think messaging non-stop is what tides you over during working hours
  10. Ditto 'having a smoke' with your mates outside halfway through a shift

Ask our Cupcake Royalty what it is like working at Angelica. If you're up to their calibre and Mona's standards then send us your CV [ This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ] attached to a short covering e-mail and tell us why you want to work for us.
